Laura Llanas (’04)

Laura Llanas attended Looscan Elementary, Marshall Middle School and Jefferson Davis High School. She continued her studies at the University of Houston,where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies She dedicated her teaching career to DeChaumes Elementary School,where she worked as a math teacher for 15 years. She loved her students and always went out of her way to make sure they always had what they needed to succeed. She was known for always having a huge, bright smile that illuminated everything around her. Laura was known to everyone,including her family, co-workers and students, as a jokester who always made people laugh. Not only did she make people laugh, she also did what she could to help others. One of her favorite activities was to distribute food and essential products to the homeless. Laura was a wonderful daughter, a beautiful sister, and a loyal friend who had a big heart. She will be truly missed by everyone. Laura joins her father, Armando Llanas, in heaven. She is survived by her mom, Maria Guadalupe Llanas; Sisters Alma Nelly Llanas, Patricia Llanas, Leticia Llanas; Brother-in-law Robert Mendoza;Niece, Liliana Marie Mendoza: her grandmother, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
