Mr. Wayne H. Alexander (’77)

 

UH alum Wayne Alexander passed away last Friday on January 17th, 2020. Born October 12, 1949, Mr. Alexander graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Business Technology in 1977.  He was the owner and operator of Sure Grow Nursery located at 1803 South Main Missouri City, TX 77489 across from Missouri City Jr. High. He also owned and operated 20/20 Reality Group located in what was formerly the Kroger’s shopping center. He was also a three time political candidate, and actively involved with the UofH Life Alum Assoc, NAACP, National Black Caucus, Missouri City Rotary Club, and many others. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dr. Catherine Alexander, PhD.; daughter, Nena Alexander; Robert Lee, son-in-law of the Mitchell family of Missouri City; and two grandsons who were near and dear to his heart, Caleb and Aden Alexander-Lee. After suffering a devestating house fire in 2003, the Alexander family moved from Missouri City, and settled into the Houston midtown area where he went on to volunteer and mentor upcoming community and political activist like State Rep Ron Reynolds and so many others.
