Mr. Stephen R. Habermacher (’65)

Stephen was born on November 11, 1935 in Houston, TX and lived in the area most of his life. He attended St. Thomas High School and continued his education at the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. After college, Stephen entered the Army as a commissioned officer and served proudly until June 1964 as a 2nd Lieutenant. After his military career, he embraced his love for music. He owned and taught at Westview Music School; and sold pianos at Brook Mays. Until recently, he taught private lessons at his in-home studio. Stephen was also an educator. He taught music at Ed White Elementary HISD and substituted in CYFAIR, Katy, Alief, and Waller school districts. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Evelyn Habermacher and sister Rosalyn Wilson. He is survived by his wife Judith Heiss-Habermacher; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Habermacher and Katherine Trueblood; daughter Rosemary Habermacher; step-son Eric Heiss; brother Wayne Habermacher, and several nieces and nephews. Family will begin receiving friends on Saturday, January 18,2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale located at 6900 Lawndale Street Houston, Texas 77023. Funeral services for Stephen will begin at 12:30 PM with the interment to follow in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
