Gayle Smiley (’62)

Gayle Barbara Smiley, age 79, of Dallas, Texas, dearest and much loved sister, aunt, great-aunt, passed away on May 29, 2020, in Dallas. Gayle grew up in Houston, graduated from San Jacinto High School, attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Houston. She had a full and active business life in the advertising field, all in the cities of New York, Houston and Dallas. In retirement, she travelled throughout Europe, enjoying each and every country she visited. Gayle was an avid sports fan and absolutely LOVED the Texas Rangers. She was extremely gifted musically, playing the piano, guitar and singing in her most beautiful voice. Up until not too many years ago, Gayle was a very active volunteer at the Dallas Food Pantry, achieving many awards and recognitions for her devoted work at the Pantry. She was a very special woman who will be missed very much by her family and many friends throughout the country. Gayle is survived by her sister, Lynda Smiley Rauch of St. Louis; her niece, Deborah Faron; nephew, Gregory (Cheryl) Rauch; and great-nieces and-nephews, David, Jessica and Jacqueline Faron, Kyle, Katlyn and Jack Rauch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Sidney Smiley.
