Joseph Ken Jew Gaw (’73)

Joseph Ken Jew Gaw was born on May 12, 1948 in Hoi Ping, China. He and his mother, Yun Dow Jew, came to the United States when he was 7 years old to join his father, Yuk Doo Gaw, and his late older brother, Hubert Gaw. Throughout his younger years, Joe worked in the family restaurant business and later on paid for school by working in retail pharmacy. He became a registered pharmacist in 1975 after graduating from the University of Houston. He worked for many years at Methodist Hospital and upon retirement was a pharmacist for Wal-Mart. He loved fellowship, spoiling his grandchildren, bowling, golfing, mah-jong, and the Astros. Joe met and married Catherine in 1980 and is survived by his children Kenneth, Lisa and son-in-law Ryan and their children Michael and Caitlin, Kevin and daughter-in-law Doris and children Brianna and Charlotte, mother-in-law Sheung Tong Chow and father-in-law Kwok Keung Chow.
