Robert Morrison (O.D. ’59)

Dr. Robert Morrison, 90, died January 10, 2019. His 50 year career as an optometrist began in Perryton, Texas in 1959. He moved his practice to Amarillo in 1972 and maintained it until his retirement. Dr. Morrison lost his own eyesight, but kept his keen mind and wry sense of humor to the end. He recently joked that he intended to die in the year 2020, a proper date for an optometrist.”Big Bad Bob” is survived by his children, Cindy Morrison Hassell and Keith Morrison; son-in-law Chuck Hassell; grandchildren Holly Morrison Beeson and J.T. Hassell, and dozens of lifelong friends and patients. We are heartbroken at his loss, but rejoice in knowing that he is reunited with wife of 64 years, our sweet Ruthie, who preceded him in death only four months ago.Memorials in Dr. Morrison’s honor can be made to the Glaucoma Research Foundation at https://getinvolved.glaucoma.org/tribute-giving
