Robert C. Kyler (’56)

Robert “Bob” Cecil Kyler, 87, of Austin, formerly of Port Arthur, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2020. He was born on October 18, 1932 to Elmo Knox Kyler and Sallie Price Kyler in McAllen Texas. Bob was known for his unique sense of humor, his selflessness, generosity and unwavering faith in Christ. He was an avid fan of the University of Houston Cougars and enjoyed fishing on the Texas coast. He also loved being with his many nieces and nephews and attended most of their sporting events and activities. As a young man, he served in the United States Army, based in Alaska. He then made his home in Port Arthur, Texas where he selflessly cared for his parents until their deaths. Bob had such a joyful spirit and loved making people laugh. There was never a dull moment when Uncle Bob was around. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Thomas “Tom” Chandler Kyler and Knox “Doc” Kyler Jr., his sister in law Lois Kyler, his brother in law, Paul Manning and great nephews Nathan Kyler and Timothy Kyler. He is survived by his sister, Betty Manning of Austin, Texas and 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Uncle Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
