William Glid Galloway, 82, of Athens, Texas passed away August 9, 2020. He was born in 1937 in Bryan, Texas. Glid is preceded in death by his parents: C.H. Galloway and Mildred Galloway, two brothers: Vernon Galloway and Charles Galloway, two sisters: Claire Luther and Mary Galloway, and his niece: Donna Luther. He is survived by his wife: Ira Jean Galloway, Daughter Terrie Mondor and her husband, Randy; Son: Tim Galloway, Grandchildren: Kayla Galloway, Tyler Galloway, Alanna Galloway, Jeff Mondor and his wife Tracy, Aimee Patterson and her husband Derek, and Scott Mondor, great grandchildren: Sloan Mondor, Weston and Hunter Patterson, and Mackie and Collins Mondor, brother Wilbur Galloway, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Glid served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves (1955-1962); played football for Sam Houston State University (1956); graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston; was a Lifetime Committee Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He worked for Houston Lighting and Power (now Centerpoint) for 33 years and for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) for 5 years. Glid was a longtime member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Athens, Texas. Glid was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw and will be greatly missed by his family. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday August 20, 2020 from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens. Private family graveside services will be held on Friday.
