On Monday, September 21, 2020, our beloved Walter Lee Guice went to be with our Father in Heaven at the age of 72. Lee is preceded in death by his mother, Stella, father, Louis, brothers Robert and David, and granddaughter Ella Nutt. He is survived by his wife, Mary Guice, sister Martha Wingate, brothers Bill and Larry Guice, daughters Larissa Guice Baggett and Rebecca Guice Nutt, stepdaughters Dottie Garrett, DeLana Prosperie, Gennie Fitch, Kathryn Chavez, and stepson Carey Prosperie. He was also adored and will be greatly missed by 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston and was the owner of Guice Oilfield Services. He spent over 40 years in the oil and gas industry. He was instrumental in the creation of the Caddo Lake Wildlife Refuge. As a longstanding member of Summerfield United Methodist Church, he faithfully taught Sunday School weekly and served in various other roles for the church. He was an avid reader, a lover of crosswords with a witty sense of humor, and loved spending time outdoors gardening, camping, traveling, and enjoying the beautiful world God created. His bright blue eyes and big smile would light up a room, and he most loved when that room was full of his family. His family invites you to celebrate his life on Saturday, the 26th of September at 2pm at Summerfield United Methodist Church, 7078 Tryon Road, Longview, Texas. The family requests that everyone wear masks to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of the following organizations in memory of Lee: MD Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org Caddo Lake Institute at caddolakeinstitute.org/make-a-donation
