Sylvia Torres (’86)

Sylvia believed she could, so she did! She received her high school diploma from Robstown High School, completed her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston, Master of Science degree from University of Houston- Clear Lake, she was a proud cougar. She was a professor at San Jacinto College, instructor for ESL Adult Education for Harris County Department of Education, certified licensed counselor, and was a retiree of Galena Park ISD for service in education of over 30 years.

Sylvia is survived by daughter Michelle Trevino (Armando); and son Roel Contreras (Sunshine); mother Herminia Sanchez; brothers Martin Torres, and Eduardo Torres (Nancy), sister Alma Serna (Rudy) and sister-in-law Enedina Torres; grandsons Christian Taylor Trevino, Cameron Armando Trevino, and Nicholas Cody Trevino and granddaughter Skylar Lael Contreras. Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by father Manuel Ramirez Torres; sister Sandra Torres and brother Manuel Torres Jr.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Torres family.
