Robert H. Harper (FS ’87)

On Friday, February 5, 2021, Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Robert from our midst.  After a period of illness, the Lord took him from all pain and took him where there is no pain, no burden, and no tears. Robert was born from the union of Robert Andrew and Katherine Harper on October 6, 1965, in Wyandotte, Kansas.  Robert was preceded in death by his father. He was raised in Kansas City, MO, and graduated from Southeast High School where he was an All-American High School Football Player. Upon graduating from Southeast High School, Robert received a football scholarship to attend the University of Houston.  Robert’s athletic achievements resulted in him becoming an All-American Linebacker during his collegiate career. In 2001, Robert relocated to Charlotte, NC, and became employed as a Deputy Sheriff with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.  In 2004, Robert relocated to Houston, TX, and became employed as a Juvenile Officer and Bailiff with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.  In 2019, Robert became disabled and retired from his position as a Deputy Constable from the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 3. During his brief retirement, Robert devoted much needed time with his children and family.

He leaves to cherish the joys of life- his children Robert “Lil Robert,” Cameron, Kendall, and Camille Harper; his loving mother Katherine Manlove (Harold); one brother Jeffrey Dayton (Dana); one sister Robbyn Harper; one niece Tori Dayton; one nephew Remington Jones; two aunts Marion McGriggler and Doris Blakley (Don); one uncle Jasper Harris, Sr.; special cousins Bettina McGriggler, Toi Harris (Cord), Jasper Harris, Jr., D. Steven Blakley (Vianey), Dominique Blakley, Brenda Nanoski, Terri Williams (Willie), Micah Nanoski; and many other relatives and friends.
