Frank Vincent Azzarello (’01, PHD ’08)

Frank Vincent Azzarello1967-2021….. passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a real trooper to the very end. Frank grew up in Spring, TX and attended Oak Ridge High School, class of 1986. He went on to attend University of Houston for a PhD in Chemistry. As it turns out, he was only 1 argument with a professor from achieving that goal. He was a huge advocate for education and also loved his research. Frank ran into many challenges in meeting his dream in life. But leave it to Frank to show us all up. He has fulfilled his dream in death as a medical science donor. He lived in Austin, TX up until his diagnosis and moved to Freeport, TX to be with his mother Evelyn, sister Kathy and niece Jessica shortly after.Frank was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Frank Jr and Grace Azzarello, maternal grandparents John and Edith Oehl, his uncle James Oehl, his father Frank III Azzarello, his younger sister Janet Welch, and his niece Brittany Welch. He is survived by his mother Evelyn Roberts, older sister Katherine Savell, niece Linsey Welch and niece Jessica Savell. Frank is also survived by 5 aunts (Janet, Mary, Suggy, Terry and Joyce), 2 uncles (Jim and John) and 10 first cousins (Jimmy, Christina, Teresa, Mary Alice, Laurel, Anna, Catherine, Andrew, Danny and Stephen).Service will be held at St Mary’s Star of the sea (1019 W 6th St, Freeport, TX 77541) Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Mary’s Star of the Sea.
