Archer McWhorter, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. In addition to earning both a BBA and MBA from UofH, he joined the UofH faculty in 1974, earned tenure, served as a department chairman beginning in 1979, and taught generations of undergraduate and graduate business students, receiving the CBA Distinguished Faculty Member award and numerous awards for teaching excellence before retiring in 2020.
A memorial service is planned for September 19, 2026 @ 1pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 5501 Main St, Houston, TX 77004. The service will also be available online here. A reception will follow at the church.
