We remember James (Jimbo) Leon Olsen who died June 5, 2021 in Newport, OR at the age of 75. A true Celebration of Life was held at the Eagles on June 12 where Jimbo’s friends and family gathered to honor his life with stories of what a truly wonderful person he was. An avid reader and crossword solver, he enjoyed writing and playing music, and could easily be spotted on the streets wearing one of his many Hawaiian shirts from his extensive collection! Born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 10, 1946, Jimbo attended Smiley High School in Houston, TX and graduated Cum Laude from University of Houston in 1969. An extensive traveler, his destinations included Hawaii, Venezuela, Trinidad, Barbados, Grenada, England and Mexico. Jimbo worked for Standard Oil, and wrote the grant to have the Yaquina Bay book published. He also worked as a bartender, poker dealer, tax preparer and landscaper. Jimbo is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Imelda Olsen, Brother Donny Olsen, Brother Tommy DeMein and Brother Terry Blacksher. He will be lovingly remembered for all time by his sister Lisa Davis and husband Keith of Matthews, NC, his brother Danny Olsen and wife Laura of Spring, TX, and brother Joe Blacksher and wife Betty of Cedar Park, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jimbo’s family would like to thank the Eagles for hosting his many friends who were able to gather and celebrate the wonderful life he led. It was quite the celebration! The family enjoyed meeting everyone, and takes great comfort in knowing how much he was loved and respected.
