ABC 13 Houston has hired Bayou City native Mo Haider as a news reporter and sports anchor. He’ll be officially joining the station in September. Haider took to social media to make the announcement. “Throughout my career I’ve always heard there’s nothing like working in your hometown,” Haider wrote on Facebook. “After being away for nearly eleven years, I finally get a chance to experience that feeling. I’m coming home!”
Calling the role an “incredible opportunity,” Haider added: “It’s truly an honor to be part of our city’s legacy station, a place that’s been home to some of the most incredible journalists in the country, and a news organization that Houstonians have always trusted and relied on.”
A graduate of the University of Houston’s Jack J. Valenti School of Communication, Haider wrote for the Daily Cougar, hosted a show on Coog Radio, and interned with KPRC 2 and FOX 26. He joins ABC 13 after working as a news reporter and fill-in anchor at KOMO in Seattle since 2021. His last day on air there will be on Friday. Prior to that role, Haider worked at WTVF in Nashville, Tenn.; NBC 26 in Green Bay, Wis.; KRQE in Albuquerque, N.M.; and KCAU in Sioux City, Iowa.
